Witch balls for protection and as gifts

Witch balls have been around for centuries, but is is nearlyimpossible (and very costly) to buy one.

These silvery balls were once common fixtures in windows, particularly in England, where they were said to repel evil thoughts and curses. Most Pagans don't feel they can spend several hundred dollars to purchase such a ball, even if they could find one, butt here is no reason you can't make one.

You will need a clear glass ball or Yule ornament with an opening in one end If the glass ball has some kind of design, choose one you like or one you can change with further decoration.

You will also need a bottle of silver paint found in hobby stores,

a few drops of frankincense orpatchouli oil,

a spool of red thread,

and a pair of scissors.


Cover you working space with newspaper to protect against spills.

Take the metal cap off the ornament. Carefully pour a little of the silver paint inside the ball and swish it around until the inside is completelycoveredwith the silver. Set it aside to dry.

When the paint is totally dry, cut the red thread into three inch-lengths.Carefully poke this thread into the open end of the ball. Continuecuttingand putting the thread into the ball untill the ball is nearly full.

Put ina few drops of oil.

Then put the end back on the ornament. If it has no end seal it with candle wax.

When you hang the protection ball, chant:

Symbol of the Moon,
symbol of the Lady divine,
Reject all negativity,
defend this home (car),
me and mine.

This protection ball can be hung in the window of your home or in your car.

Any negative thoughts or ill-wishes directed against you are reflected back to the sender.

You can also decorate the outside with appropriate designs.You can put them onto wreaths or make them part of a dried flower arrangement. Programmed for protection, these little Witch balls do a very good job.


Here's some different instructions on how to make them:

You will need the following items:

Clear Glass balls - the colorless kind.
I tried with plastic, but thepaint would not stick very well. I have used teardrops and bells, but the balls work best.

Silver paint- I found that silver aluminum type works best - it is more reflective Red yarn cut in short lengths - enough to fill the ball Red ribbon for hanging Decorations to hide the hangy-down thing on top of the ball (Ilike misteltoe and holly)

First pour the silvery paint into the ball and swirl it around to cover. Since it is supposed to be reflective, the silveraluminum paint they use for metal outdoor stuff is the best, but in a pinch,silver acrylic will do. Stand the ball on it's top and let dry and drain for 24 hours. Do not skim here. If it is not fullydry, thepaint will fall away from the ball. When it is dry, stuff it full ofthe cutlengths of red thread. Make sure it is really full.

I usually putsome salt and sage into it,

along with some of my Yule incense,

justbecause it feels right, but the directions did not say to do this.

When the ball is stuffed full, place the metal hanger thing back on top. I usually glue it to make sure it does not fall off.

If you do not use salt and incense, you may not have to glue it.

I cut a length of red ribbon and attach it for a hanger.

I glue on some mistletoe and holly tomake itlook pretty.

You can also use those pre-made flowers or anything else you would like.

When it is done, I take it into my circle and consecrate it with fire, air, water and earth. I infuse it with the energy of protection, peace and harmony.

When I am done, I hang itin myYule tree.

I also have them hanging in every room and in all my windows

.You can color-coordinate the decorations to suit the room. This would be a good protection item for those who are not out of the broom closet, a sit were or who do not wish to draw attention to their pagan leanings


Salt dough is one of the easiest things in the world to make, and you can create just about anything from it. Use it with cookie cutters to make your own Sabbat ornaments.

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
4 Cups flour
1 Cup salt
1 ½ Cups hot water
1 tsp vegetable oil
Preparation:
Combine the salt and flour, then add the water until the dough becomes elastic. Add the oil at this time and knead the dough (if it's too sticky, add more flour). Once it's a good consistency, make your decorations with cookie cutters. Bake ornaments at 200* until hard (about 20 - 30 minutes). Once they've cooled, paint them with designs and symbols, and seal with clear varnish.

If you're planning to hang them, poke a hole through the ornament BEFORE baking them. Then after you've varnished them, run a ribbon or thread through the hole.


You can also make jewery out of the dough much the same way you would an ornament.

Property Protection Spell

The kitchen is often the centre of most activity of your house, flat, or
Apartment, so start there. On the kitchen bench, place in the quarters the
Following items:

North = Matches. (fire) Red candle
West = Stone. (earth) Green candle
South = Feather. (air) Yellow candle
East = Shell. (water) Blue candle
(The above items can be changed around to different quarters to suit your
Calling.)

Place a large white candle in the centre (with a plate under it); light the
Quarter candles one at a time going anti-clockwise calling in the power of
That quarter and their energy. Light the centre candle at the end, bringing
Your energy to the centre. Take the large candle to the room furthest from
The front, enter and walk around the room in a spiral starting at the door
And finishing in the centre, capturing all the unwanted past, negative
Energy in the candle. Bring the candle back towards the door then exit,
Closing the door behind you. Do this with each room in the house. This may
Seem a bit time-consuming, but it took time to build the bad energy and it
Will take time to banish.
When every room has been done take the candle to the front door and walk
Outside. Turn and face away from the house and blow the candle out, blowing
All negativity (and not good stuff) away to be absorbed by the universe.
When you do come back inside, after the neighbours are left wondering "what
The...?" take a frankincense incense stick and light it from the earth
Candle. Take the incense stick and a small bell if you have one, or a stone
If you do not have a bell, then walk around the perimeter of your house. If
You live in a flat/apartment, go for a walk around the whole block ...the
Other residents might just think you are smoking something funny.
Next, bring down a bubble of protection from the universe. Ring the bell at
The corners (just a little ring), continuing doing this until you feel
Confident that your shield is there. When you are inside again give thanks
To the quarters, blow the candles out going in a clockwise direction, saying
As you do so:


I am safe I am protected,
I am safe I am protected,
I am safe I am protected,
I am safe I am protected.

When you have a need of your protection bubble, it will automatically be
There. Just remember the words, "Whenever I need".
Note: Your bubble is yours to keep and to protect, whenever you need it.
This type of protection can also be used for other possessions e.g. Car,
Bike, skateboard etc. When your home and surroundings are secure it is time
To look at yourself.

Room Protection Spell

This is an effective spell to use when you need to protect the room you are occupying.

To start, close the door, and with your chosen tool draw a pentacle in the air at the doorway.

As you do, visualize purple light flowing from the tool and forming the pentacle.

With your hands, draw a curtain of shimmering energy from top to bottom.

Repeat this with any other doorway.

If you want additional protection, do the windows.

You can strengthen this spell by burning a protective incense.

~ Appalachian Hickory Tree Protection Spell ~

In Appalachian folk magic, the wood of the hickory tree is valued for
its ability to break curses and bring protection.

To repel negative magic, go to a hickory tree during a Full Moon.
Announce your intentions to the tree and break off a flexible twig or switch from
the tree.

If you know who has hexed you, say their name. If the source is unknown,
think of your problem. Then bend and twist the switch tightly and say:

"As I twist and turn this switch, your power is bound, but I'm free."

Place the twisted switch on the ground, then thank the tree. Leave and
go directly home.

Jar of Stones Spell

A spell of protection and power for the home
This simple spell provides both protection and energy for your home. It is a spell that constantly grows in strength and can actually be done daily.

You will need:
- a glass jar
- a small amount of clean sand
- a beeswax candle
Find a glass jar that you would like to use for your spell (a quart canning jar is a good choice). Wash the jar thoroughly inside and out with warm water and soap. Dry the jar completely. Light your beeswax candle and drop a few drops of molten wax onto the interior bottom of the jar. Next, place about one inch of sand in the jar.

Place the jar near an entrance door to your home. Every time you find a small stone, drop it in the jar. Any type of stone will do, so feel free to be creative with the stones used. You do not have to put a stone in daily, they can be added as frequently as you wish. It is important though that you put them in one at a time and the spell works best if you put no more than one stone in per day.

As you add each stone, speak the following words aloud:
Snare the evils, bring them woe,
Where they wish, don't let them go,
Evil from this place be banned,
By this wish, by this command!
Once the bottle has been filled, put the lid on and leave it by the door. You can make as many of these as you like and place them by every door. Touch the jar and repeat your chant at least once a week to reinforce the power of the spell. This spell will help defend your home and family from the negative energy that uninvited visitors and negative thoughts can produce. It also introduces power and energy into the home and revitalizes a family's strength.

Archangel Ritual Protection Spell
This spell is designed to protect you during rituals or spell casting.

Designate 4 candles, one for each archangel - Michael, Raphael, Uriel and Gabriel.

Dedicate each candle to one angel by carving the angel's name or sigil into it.

Place a candle in each corner of the room.

Burn the candles, replace as needed.

All-Purpose Protection Spell

For a dose of all-purpose protection, mix sage and fenugreek (or fennel)
with a pinch of allspice, and cover with enough boiling water to fill a
mug. Stand over the pot and visualize it glowing first with bright
green, then with potent blue protective energy. When the potion is
thoroughly imbued both with the herbs and your positive thoughts, pour.
As you sip the aromatic brew, think of its protective energies seeping
into your body, and into your aura. Gradually, your personal emanation

impermeable to negativity.by the time the flowers wilt.

Protection Spell

Charge a small stone of Saturn correspondence to carry with you as a
charm of protection—black tourmaline, Apache tears, or snowflake
obsidian. Or find any dark colored stone in the earth that feels solid,
stable, and strong to you.

Find a quiet outdoor place and sprinkle a circle of salt on the ground, large enough for you to sit inside, and hold your chosen stone.

Close your eyes; ground and center, drawing Earth energy within you.

Visualize rings of energy swirling around the
Saturn stone you hold, building and increasing to surround and emanate
from you.

Within the rings you are strong, solid, secure, and shielded
from harm.

In the future, whenever you feel the need for extra
protection, hold your stone to assist you.

PSYCHIC PROTECTION SPELL

It is best to find a work area that you can leave untouched for 3 days.
If you must put away your tools, try to leave the spell candle out in the open.
Prepare your work area by setting up any tools you may be using in addition to your spells candle.
(Black) Love or protection incense is recommended.
While setting up your area, concentrate on the purpose of the work.
Bathe or cleanse your self. Do not let negative thought enter your mind.
Go your work area. Cast the Circle, light incense.
Envision a large, white ball of light surrounding you, your work area, and your home.
Hold the candle between the palms of your hand and direct all positive energy into it.
Place the candle and prior to lighting say,
"This candle represents protection over me in all things."
Light the candle and say,
"As the light of this flame grows, I feel the light and positive energy around me.
As this candle burns, everything around me is blessed with light and love.
I am blessed with light and love. Negative energy is banished."
Sit back and watch the candle burn.
Keep visualizing the white ball of light and protection around you..
Evision your higher self blessing you and protecting you from harm.
When the candle has burned 1/3 of the way down say,
"As the flame of the candle is extinguished. ..
Evil, negativity, and harm towards me is banished!
Any entity, ghost or spirit her by mistake go into the light and pass on to the world of spirit,
be not afraid as many wait for you there who you have loved and who love you.
Extinguish the candle. But don't blow it out!
Repeat this for 2 more nights. Bury or throw away the left over wax.

Mix salt and water from your altar together. Starting at the northern point next to your bed, sprinkle the mixture around the bed while saying:

Water and Earth
Where you are
Cast no spell
Or adverse purpose
Haste if not
In complete accord with me
As my word
So mote it be!

Visualize a protective box of energy from as you say this.

Autumn Stone Protection Spell

Every home can benefit from protection. This spell employs one of nature's sturdiest objects, a stone. Choose a plain rock at least as big as your fist. Set it on your altar between a bowl of salt and a bowl of water. Behind these, light a black candle. Sprinkle the stone with salt, saying: "I consecrate this stone with the purifying power of salt." Sprinkle it with water, saying: "I consecrate this stone with the cleansing power of water." Pass it over the flame, saying: "I consecrate this stone with the attraction of flame to moth." Finally, trace a pentagram on the stone with your finger, and say:

To watch and guard around my home,
I invoke the strength of stone.
All evil thoughts be drawn within:
Strike here and leave me alone!

 

Blow out the candle; empty the salt and water outside. Keep the rock near your door.
