The following list of trees are from the celtic Tree calendar. All of these trees are sacred to the Druids. With the mighty Oak being the most sacred of all. It is said that when one comes upon a grove of Oak, Ash and Hawthorn, that you have encountered a place where faeries congregate.
Birch - ( Beithe ) element of water. offers protection from lightning, use the twigs to exorcise spirits from animals and humans
Rowan - ( Luis ) element of fire. the berries are carried in pouches for good luck and power, protects against storms and lightning, a cross made of two twigs tied together with red thread offers protection, increases psychic power, the branches are used for dowsing rods
Alder - ( Fearn ) this tree deals with inner strength, confidence, and awareness
Willow - ( Saille ) element of water, guards against evil, burned to conjure spirits,used to attract love, used for healing spells
Ash - ( Nuin ) element of fire, used in sea rituals, induces prophetic dreams, used for prosperity spells,represents the Ygdrasill
Hawthorn - ( Huathe ) element of fire, used in fertility spells, protects against lightning, sacred to the faeries
Oak - ( Duir ) element of fire, offers protection of all kinds, used for good luck charms
Holly - ( Tinne ) element of fire, offers strong protection of all kinds, also used as a good luck charm
Hazel - ( Coll ) element of air, used for fertility charms, branches are used for dowsing, the nuts are chewed prior to divination, offers protection
Apple - ( Quert ) element of water, used for love spells
Vine - ( Muin ) used for inner development
Ivy - ( Gort ) element of water, used for good luck charms and love charms
Reed - ( Ngetal ) this tree (plant) has to do with inner development, harmony, and transformations
Blackthorn - ( Straif ) this tree (plant) involves coercion, forced control, and channeled destructive power
Elder - ( Ruis ) element of water, strong protection, good luck charm
It is said that on those rare occasions when mistletoe is found on a oak tree. That the grove shall gather around on the 6th. day of the moon. And a white cloth shall be placed beneath to keep the mistletoe from touching the ground. And that said mistletoe shall be cut from the oak, using a golden sickle. This is a gift from the Gods.
