A Wishing Pod Spell

You will need to gather:

A seed pod from any tree
1 piece of paper, pictures or drawings to represent your wish

To make your dreams come true, take your seed pod or eggshell and on you piece of paper write down what your wish or dream is. Decorate it with the pictures of your wish. Make sure to put your intention behind what you want by making it as real as possible. Place the paper in the pod and bury it in a young pot plant or a new tree.

Now let the Gods and Goddesses take over.

Gratefully brought to you by witchy little secrets

Before buying seeds check this out

It used to be that growing a vegetable meant you had the best there was for your efforts. But that was long ago, before all the raging cancers. Now 6 out of 8 seeds you can buy are genetically modified. Messing with mother nature is never your best plan. Buy heirloom whenever possible. Ever wonder why so many seeds you get from produce you buy will never sprout, good old genetic modifying at its finest. Read the article you will be glad you did.  and thank you agardenforthehouse.com

Devils claw - the craft aspect of this plant

These are the claws that give the plant its name

As a child when my sister and I walked through the woods we were sometimes snagged by these beauties. Their tough claw like barbs can scrape and even draw blood. But now they are endangered. If you find them please keep this in mind.

First I want to invite you to Check out my salves made with this interesting plant with products you can buy on line or create yourself.

An different addition to a basic Zig Zag Baby Afghan.

This one I used only two yarns. The big ones. One in white, and one in a cream, pink and blue mix. Then to try something new I added a flower of yarn.

1 lg skein white yarn
1 lg skein multicolored yarn
bits of green for the leave and center and red for the flower pedals
thread to secure flowers petals

It was made in the same zig zag pattern as I always use. check out my others on here.

To make the flower I made 9 stitches then circled around then first down one side then adding a stitch at the top I worked down the other side stopping one stitch short of the end and tied it off. I did that for the Flower petals, the leaf and the center of the flower which I then rolled together and secured into a ball. I secured each to the yarn then folded the petals and secured the ends with thread.

Two other baby afghans I made
This one is multicolored and made with partial skeins

The next one was done with bright yellow, a light yellow, Eastery green and white.
Both are great ways to use partial skeins.

Matching Hat and Scarves for Adults

I never bothered to learn to read the patterns so I make up my own. I find it relaxing to create something original. The scarves and hats are made with two colors used in each stitch. The one set is brown and a bright orangey color. The other is a set with 2 colors. but doubled with 2 other colors. Then so it wasn't just striped I cut the first skein in half and put 1/2 at the last and 1/2 at the front. Only basic stitch was used doubled yarn used 4 skeins in all. The colors were lt blue, medium blue, brown and cream.

The lt blue was at the front 1/4 and back 1/4 with the cream in the middle. Then with the second yarn (remember it is stitched double) the brown is used then at the half way mark it is replaced with the medium blue.
1. Scarf The scarves are straight stitched across 15-25 stitches depending on the size of the crochet hook and the size of the person you are making it for. Then I crochet them so they start at your waist, wrap around your neck once, and go to your waist again. that way they can double it or even put it around the head then wrap the neck. Then stitch around the scarf twice. To create a finished look. This one was done with a k hook and 17 stitches.
Hat The hat is done by stitching 8 stitches with a J hook with two strands of yarn then stitch around it and around it, adding stitches as you need to create a round beanie like a Rabi would wear, then stitch 1 straight line out from that 8-10 stitches for an adult, check by holding on head and checking how far the stitches go. then stitch a straight set or stitches like you were making a scarf. so you will have a Rabi beanie with a small scarf like thing coming off the beanie. checking to see if you have stitched enough by encircling the beanie with the scarf. then from the inside stitch around connecting the hat together. once that is done stitch around the rim of the hat 2 times. you can attach a tassel at the top or make braids from yarn down the side if wanted. The actual pattern is at this link
http://cronecronicles.blogspot.com/2013/01/crochet-craft-vintage-beanie.html

This hat I used the remainder of the 4 skeins but each cut in half and alternated the colors on each skein to create a hap hazard pattern of color.  I trimmed in what was left. Eric took it over right away.
The other set is brown and a bright orangey color. Then I trimmed in brown  to set it off and added tassels at the bottom of the scarf There was more orange than brown so the tassels were three orange 1 ste of both colors and continue across.
