Spirit-Summoning Spells

To summon a spirit

For conversation with the dead attend to ceremony, avoid the grave's annoyance
 speaking always gently.

 "earth,bone, and winding sheet
let this spirit come to me-----
 yet send it in peace
or not at all''

if it should come it should be offered White wine not red and
 knelt to for pity.

Computer Spirits

Computers often attract spirit elementals. A computer is basically a material housing for an elaborate construct of the mind. Most of what makes a computer useful exists in a whole different dimension! Just as you might summon a fire elemental for your hearth or perhaps an earth elemental for your garden, it¢s a good idea to summon a spirit elemental to help keep your computer running smoothly. You¢ll need a silver candle and something symbolizing your computer, such as a floppy disk or a photo. Light the candle and say:

Light of the mind,
Go forth and find
A spirit to aid my spell.
Let it be had;
Let it be glad
In my computer to dwell.
Spirit of thought,
What I have wrought
From now on guard and keep well.

Visualize a helpful spirit elemental entering your computer symbol. Let the candle burn out; keep the symbol near your computer.

Ghosts in The Garden!
Many plants have connections to the other side, so legends tell us.
Gardens are favorite places for ghosts, and why not? Everyone likes gardens! Whether you want a ghost to leave or want to see a departed friend or loved one, plants from the garden can aid you.
A sprig of white heather placed in a special place of silence and meditation has the power to bring a ghost to you. After picking a piece of white heather at midnight, place it in a glass of river water in the darkest corner of your home. Sit and think of a departed loved one and it is said that the loved ones shadow will visit you.

A Rite For Envoking Ancestor spirits by Edain McCoy

On Samhain Eve, when the veil of illusion which separates our world from
that of the spirits is parted, our thoughts naturally turn to our
passed over loved ones.

To help assure that your beloved dead are with you this Samhain, try
working a simple spell using a portal incense consecrated to this
purpose, and an incantation designed to reach their wandering ears.

The incense should contain two parts lavender, one part sage, one-half
part cinnamon, and a dash of either wormwood or yarrow. As you mix the
incense, be sure to visualize it as a gateway for 'only 'your own
loving family.

You will need to have on hand one single, unlit candle for this rite.

When you are ready to begin, cast your circle as usual. Place your
incense censor, with coals already smoldering, inside the circle between
the center point and any directional point which you or your tradition
feels represents the Land of the Dead (usually the north or west). Sit
or stand in the center of the circle and cast another one just large
enough to encompass you. Remain in this inner circle and spend a few
moments mentally attuning yourself to the spirit world.

When you are ready to start the rite, toss one third of the incense onto
the coals and begin the following evocation:

"Hear my cry my ancestors.
On this most magical night of the year,
I open for you the portal back into my world.
The veil is parted wide, the feast awaits.
Come, beloved ancestors,
and join in the ancient rites.
(Toss on another third of the incense and continue)
Come to me in love.
Come to this plane in peace.
Come with the blessing of the Lord and Lady
whom we will praise together this hallowed eve.
The door is open, the beacon is lit (light the candle now)
the way is clear.
Arise, blessed dead, and celebrate with me."

Toss the final third of the incense on the coals and await the
coming of your ancestors.

Spirit summoning spell

To create an incense portal for
summoning the ancestor spirits from the otherworld, you will need an
altar complete with pictures and items to honor them. In a strongly
protected
circle, place lavender, cinnamon, and wormwood on the coals. Call out
only to benevolent and loving ancestor spirits by saying:

Blood of my blood, you spirits of love,
Come from below and from above;
Entities loving who wish me well,
Come to this circle when I sound the bell.

Intone a bell three times and welcome the ancestors¢ spirits.
Afterwards, ring the bell seven times to send them back through the portal so
you can close your circle.

Ritual spell to honor spirits

I use a lovely silver bowl shaped like a shell with wells for three
candles built into it. You can use whatever vessels for candles you
might have. I put small items in the bowl that remind me of or are
from family members that have died.

You need apple or apple blossom incense since this is associated
with not only Love, but with Samhain in particular.

You will need a pink candle signifying affection, a yellow candle
signifying memories and a white candle, signifying peace.

Place pictures of your family or friends who you want to honor or
speak to spiritually on your altar. Purify your candles, releasing
any negativity. You can annoint your candles with rose oil signifying
love and peace if you choose. You might also choose to carve the
symbol of a rune such as Uruz (strength) on them.

Light the candles and say:

M y love for you lives on inside
Your love serves as my spirit's guide
I draw your memories close to me
And remember you most lovingly

Sometimes I talk to you and find
You did not leave me far behind
My friend, my love, my heart, my soul
I bring you close and make us whole

Look closely at the pictures you have assembled. Close your eyes
and picture the faces of your loved ones, saying aloud, or thinking
inside about what is on your mind, what you want to share.

Earthbound spirits

When a person dies we like to think their spirit automatically goes to the light and onto whatever new adventure the Divine has planned for him or her.

Sometimes a spirit refuses to go to the light thus making them earthbound. They remain behind, choosing to stay here on earth with the living. The reason why they choose is as unique as the individual.

Some spirits remain at or near the site of their death. This can happen especially if it was a sudden and unexpected death. They become confused and sometimes don't even know or accept that they're dead. These spirits stay in the same place and try to make contact with anyone who passes and is sensitve to spirits.

We have free will in life and it appears that continues in death too. Sometimes a spirit realises it is no longer living and there's an afterlife waiting for him or her. However, they choose not to enter the light for fear of being judged on their mortal actions, going to hell or purely because the next level

Other spirits stay behind to take care of unfinished business. They may feel the need to make sure their finances are all in order or that their loved ones are being taken care of. Sometimes they just feel the need to pass along one final message. Often these spirits don't stay around for too long and when they feel they've finished they go to the light. The spirit is likely to try and make contact with sensitive people to enlist their help in completing their mission.

Guilt can be another reason for a spirit becoming earthbound. They may feel as if they've left too soon and have not make provisions for the care of their family. Sometimes the spirit may feel it needs forgiveness before it can move on. This is often the case with abusive people who see the error of their ways at death and search for forgiveness from their victims.

The living can also keep a spirit here too. By not letting them go, they can be bound here by our love and feel duty bound to stay here until they know we can come to terms with the loss.

DIY Magick - Opening a door to the light for an Earthbound Spirit

You can use this ritual even if you can't see the spirit. It may or may not choose to enter the light. In the worst case scenario, you'll need to call in a professional to banish the spirit.

You will need:

1 white candle

How to do it:

Ground and centre yourself so that you're completely relaxed
Cast a circle of protection
Light the candle
Stare at the centre of the flame where the light is the brightest.
When you can see the light clearly in your mind, look at a nearby wall and see that same light.
When you can see that same light clearly make it tall and wide enough to form a door.
Open the door and hold it open until the spirit has gone through.
Recipe for the Week - Fiery Quince Sambal

I'm sure you've heard of the TV show Ghost Whisperer. It's about Melinda, a woman who can see and talk to ghosts. She helps them complete any unfinished business they might have before helping them into the light. The show is loosely based on Mary Ann Winkowski, a paranormal investigator from Ohio.

One way in which Mary Ann keeps ghosts from a re-entering a home is by using quince seeds! She's not quite sure why it works but it seems to for her.

This recipe is for quince sambal - a hot condiment or side dish usually to accompany Indoneasian cuisine (but you can use your imagination - it will spice up anything!). Save the quince seeds just in case you need them to keep unwanted earthbound spirits out!

You need:

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 garlic cloves, very finely chopped
3 red Thai chilies, very finely chopped
One 2-inch piece of ginger, peeled and minced
1 small red onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons salted roasted peanuts, coarsely chopped
2 small quinces--peeled, halved, cored and cut into 1/4-inch dice (Quince are in season from Oct to Dec)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon coarsely chopped mint
1 tablespoon coarsely chopped cilantro (coriander)
What to do:

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil. Add the garlic, chiles, ginger and onion and cook over moderate heat until softened, about 4 minutes.
Add the peanuts and cook until sizzling, about 3 minutes.
Add the quinces, lime juice, sugar and salt. Cover and simmer, stirring a few times, until the quince is barely tender, about 3 minutes.
Let cool slightly.
Stir in the mint and cilantro and serve.
Spirit Make Yourself Known Spread

When an earthbound spirit does obnoxious things it is trying to get your attention for some reason. Though there are a fair number of negative spirits about there's a lot more out there that are positive or neutral. And the only reason they're still about is because there's a piece of unfinished business. Once they've crossed over into the Spirit they'll need the help of a person in this realm to accomplish their goal.

Perhaps you or someone you know believes that there's a spirit in their home. And whilst the spirit isn't doing anything that can be considered threatening, you or they would rest better if you at least understood why it has chosen to make itself known to you. Use this Tarot spread to get some answers.

Important Note: If the spirit is doing something that you find to be threatening in any manner, don't waste time trying to find rational answers. Immediately call in a professional who can talk to and banish spirits and entities.

Who or what are you?- This card gives you a bit of information about the earth bound spirit.
What Business Do you have here? - This card will let you know why they have chosen to stay earth bound.
What can I do to help you find peace? - This card will reveal an action that you can perform if you choose to help the spirit accomplish their goal.

If you choose to help the spirit, make sure once you've finished to remind them that they can go into the light. If they agree you can do one of the following three things:

If you're comfortable, bring the light to them so they can enter it.
Explain to them that they can go to a funeral service and go into the light when another spirit goes.
Call in a professional to perform a ritual to send them into the light.
Whether it chooses to go into the light or not it should at the very least stop upsetting the household. If it does not you may need to call in a professional to banish it.

Caution- If at any point during the reading your intuition reveals that the spirit is anything other than an earth bound spirit or that it's a negative spirit, immediately cease all communication with it and call in a professional who knows how to banish it.

Communicate with a Loved One Spell

Today is a good day to count your blessings, literally. To do so, make a
small blessing altar. This can be a space on top of a dresser or a small
table. Make a list of everything you are thankful for—including your
family, friends, job, good health, home, and so on. Make the list as
long and specific as possible, and list everyone and everything by name.
Then take a large clear jar or vase and fill it with small objects, such
as pebbles or marbles, one for each item on the list. Place a few
pictures of specific blessings, such as pictures of your mate, your
children, and so on, in front of the jar. Place a white candle on this
altar, and light it every day for a few minutes while you give thanks
for your many blessings.

Spirit Banishing Bottle Spell

Drop 13 rose thorns into a jar or bottle one-by-one.

As each one drops say "Evil presence I banish you"
Cover the thorns with the petals from one rose.

Fill the jar/bottle 2/3 of the way with salted water.

Leave the jar/bottle open and unattended overnight.

Before sunrise close the jar/bottle tightly - evil will be trapped inside.

Wrap in dark fabric and bury it far away

Eve of Samhain Spell to Connect with the Spirit World

Get a white candle, matches, and a mirror for this spell. At dusk, go
to a haunted area or a place you feel the spirits are especially
powerful. Make contact by walking about and allowing your mind to
roam. Light your white candle, and stare into it saying:

Clear as midnight,
the spirits are bright.
Ghostly curiosity
brings you to me.
As a form takes shape,
I am not asleep.
Spirit awake,
take your shape.

Let the candle flicker. Glance into the mirror, and look past your
shoulder. Do you see mists or lighted balls in the reflection? This
is how ghosts typically appear. Return to the area on the next three
nights. Take some pictures. At home, place your mirror facedown.
Mirrors trap spirits. Some spirits will track you as you search for
their reflections. If you want your ghost to leave, just say so .
Follow this up by putting a broom over your transom and burning sage.

Spell To meet your spirit guide:

Items needed:

Altar Candle
Day candle (whichever color for the day you be will doing your spell)
(Monday-white Tuesday-red Wednesday-purple Thursday-blue Friday-green
Saturday-black Sunday-yellow)
Offertory Candles - 3 Violet candles, 3 White candles
Tools: Athame to inscribe candles
Props: Crystal ball or clear glass of water
Incense: anise, cardamon, and coriander
Oil: jasmine, lemon, rose, and sandalwood
Bathing Herbs: cinnamon, frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood

Timing: Best done during the Mercury hour of the day, although any hour
should work. Any moon phase is appropriate.

Preparation:
Breathe deeply and build a ball of protective light around you. While
soaking in your ritual bath, meditate on the whole ritual: the steps you
will take and what you wish to say to your spirit guide when you make
contact.

Ritual:
Enter the circle in the Hour of Mercury. Light the incense. With the
oil, dress the Altar Candle and the Day Candle while concentrating on
the purpose of the ritual. Light your Altar candle and your Day candle
and state your intent:

"I am here to make contact with my Spirit Guide, and to acknowledge him
or her"

With your Athame, inscribe Violet Candle #1 with the word "Spirit".
Dress it with oil.

Light the Violet candle #1, direct your energies into it, and say:

"Here do I light the first Lamp of Spirit. May its light reach out
across the barriers from this world to the next. May it make contact
with that World of Spirit into which we will eventually enter"

Take your censer or incense wand and swing in around censing the whole
area around the altar, while rhythmically repeating the word
"Merge"
and building up energy to focus.Replace the censer and pick up Violet
candle #2. Inscribe it with the word "Spirit" and dress it with the oil.
Put it back on the altar, light it, direct your energy into it, and say:

"Here do I light the second Lamp of Spirit. May it's light also reach
out across the barriers from this world to the next. May it make contact
with that World of Spirit and help spread the light, illuminating the
passageway between our worlds."

Again, take the censer or incense wand and cense the entire area around
the altar while chanting the word
"Merge"
Build up your energy to focus. Take violet candle #3, inscribe with the
word "Spirit", dress with oil, charge with your energy, light it and
say:

"Here do I light the third Lamp of Spirit.
May its light also reach out across the barriers from this world to the
next. May the light from these three lamps blend and grow, dispelling
all darkness and lighting the way that my Spirit Guide may come to me
and speak with me here today."

Inscribe the 3 white candles with the word "Truth" and anoint each
candle with oil. Light the 3 white candles in order of 1, 2, 3, and say:

"Here do I build Truth. As these candles burn throughout this ritual,
their power generates nothing but truth in all that transpires between
this world and the next. Through these candles there is truth in all
communications that come to me".

Again, cense the entire altar area while chanting the word
"Merge".
Replace the censer and continue chanting. Sit comfortably while
chanting, and gaze into the crystal ball, or the clear glass of water.
Continue chanting until you feel it is right to let the chant taper off.
Continue to quietly look into the crystal ball or glass, not trying to
picture anything. Keep your mind blank, so whatever comes will appear
will come in it's own free will. Gaze into the center of the crystal,
there is no need to try not to blink. Look into the crystal and blink
naturally. Try not to notice anything in your peripheral vision, just
the center of the crystal. Eventually a face or figure will appear. This
may take a long time, or it may appear almost immediately. If it doesn't
come at all within approximately 20 minutes, abandon this attempt,
extinguish the candles in the order in which they were lit, leave the
altar set up, and try this ritual again in three days. You should have
results within a month at most. When a figure does appear, ask if he/she
is your Spirit Guide. You will hear an answer. You may not hear it out
loud, or even see the figures lips move, but you will be aware of the
answer. This is how most of your conversation will proceed. You will ask
your questions mentally (or out loud) and the answers will be clear
inside your mind.Ask if you have more than one spirit guide. If yes, ask
them to appear also. You may ask anything you wish to know, but it is
suggested to establish a connection first where your Spirit Guide may
appear to you at any time, or at specific times, so that you can
converse with other spirits through him/her. When you have finished
speaking with your Guide, thank him/her, then sit for a moment with your
eyes closed, meditating on all that you have learned. Extinguish the
candles in reverse order to clear the circle.

Pagan Studies - Spell to Draw Spirits

To draw beneficial spirits toward you, place an Ouija board in the
center of your table
for three nights, but don't use it. Later, get together with three
spiritually inclined
friends. Light a candle, hold hands, sit in a darkened room, and call on
the spirits.
Make up a name for your ghost. Ask: "Jack? Is that you?" If the spirit
is not named Jack,
he or she will then correct you. Watch your candle flame dip and dart.
If the fire
appears to go out and spikes up again, you have likely made spiritual
contact. Ask your
spirits to reveal themselves. After contact, consider the words,
thoughts, and pictures
that surface in your mind. Examine such thoughts carefully. Telepathy is
the usual way
most spirits communicate with us.
